Shaking up fashion conventions, Kenzo Takada stood out from the start in the 1970s by presenting colorful collections borrowed from his Asian origins.
Kenzo's beginnings were simply an assembly of scraps of fabric with colorful prints. A true blend of cultures and color combinations, which he was able to transcribe through his men's and women's collections. He worked with the idea in mind that fashion should become accessible to as many people as possible. Kenzo homme appeared in 1983.
In 1993, the Kenzo brand was bought by the LVMH company and its creator Kenzo Takada retired six years later, in 1999.
